The sun sets behind the Blue Ridge Mountains painting a new picture every night of the year, horses and other farm animals graze across the vast, open spaces that line our country roads.
Finding a delicious meal and cozy place to rest your head isn’t hard to find and there’s no shortage of ways to keep yourself entertained.
In case you haven’t guessed, we’re talking about our little home of Loudoun County, Virginia, and in case you also haven’t noticed, we’re partial to these parts.
We love it here in the countryside where the land is rich with history, yet modern luxury makes it a great place to come and gather, particularly for big occasions such as weddings. Here’s why:
Loudoun is home to a plethora of gorgeous bed and breakfasts set in the idyllic Virginia countryside, many with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and locations with their own unique histories.
In fact, here at East Lynn, we have a farmhouse inn that acts as the bridal suite for many of our newlyweds and as the honeymooner’s B&B with an interesting history of the man who built it out front on a historical marker.
Whether you’re looking to host your pre-wedding festivities in a quaint location, or you want to go straight from your nuptials and celebration to a relaxing honeymoon without a 16+hour flight and two layovers in between, you’ll have no trouble finding the right spot in Loudoun.
P.S. – Serene Manor is a gorgeous country inn around the corner from East Lynn Farm and they extend a 10% discount to East Lynn Farm’s wedding guests who rent out the manor.
Let Your Love of Nature Roam
Want to enjoy the fresh air and get picturesque views of the Northern Virginia landscape? How about getting to witness the incredible fall foliage that people venture from all over the nation to see?
In Loudoun County, we have no shortage of trails where you break a sweat that are challenging, kid-friendly, and for every fitness level in between.
Some of our favorites include Raven Rocks Hike, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Appalachian Trail.
LoCo Ale Trail
A craft beer lover’s paradise, Loudoun County is home to 21 breweries with new ones joining the LoCo Ale Trail year after year.
With options to tour the trail by way of the Washington & Old Dominion bike trail aka the Brews by Bike Trail, via the Farm Breweries Trail, while exploring historic towns and roads on the Blue Ridge Trail, Monroe Trail or Mosby Trail, you can find a route to suit your tastes and activity level.
Be sure to check out our Loudoun neighbors, Jack’s Run Brewing Company, a veteran-owned brewery located in the heart of historic downtown Purcellville!
Wind Your Way Through Loudoun’s Wineries
If wine is more your taste, Loudoun is also home to plenty of award-winning wineries and tasting rooms, 40 to be exact.
With so many to choose from, it can be hard to know where to begin, so we suggest taking a look at how Visit Loudoun broke out the Loudoun wine trail into six unique clusters that will take you through some of the most gorgeous scenic areas of the region.
Also, if you plan to spend a full day wining and dining with your guests or wedding party, we highly suggest investing in a designated driver through our preferred partners, Road Yachts, Virginia Rides, or Reston Limousine, so you can sit back and relax and know you’re making the best and safest choice!
Sight See and Shop to Your Heart’s Content
Antique lovers, window shoppers, and history buffs will love all there is to do in Loudoun, which is fantastic for guests that will have some time to kill before your wedding celebration begins!
It’s also ideal for those who want to stay in the area and honeymoon…now you’ve got nature, wining and dining, sites to see, and places to shop. What more could you want?!
Also, know that this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all that Loudoun County and the surrounding areas have to offer. Depending on the season you plan to get married, there are also activities like apple and pumpkin picking, LoCo Brewfest, firework and holiday displays and celebrations to do as well.
