Our Top 5 Wedding Trends for 2017 Couples

We’ve spent the last few weeks scouring the galleries of Style Me Pretty, Southern Weddings, and Pinterest (join our pin party!) as well as perusing wedding news on places like The Knot and WeddingWire, and we can now officially say we’re clued into the biggest wedding trends for 2017.

From eco-friendly fêtes to creative food stations, here are the top five wedding trends we expect to see our 2017 couples try out for their big celebrations at East Lynn Farm, and we can’t wait to help them bring those unique visions to life!

Lots of Lush Greenery

While flowers have always been an essential wedding staple, we see more and more couples using lush greenery as garlands for their ceremony decor, tablescapes, as the primary botanicals for their centerpieces, as well as in bouquets.

For couples who are looking for a wedding that exudes earthy and natural elements while still looking elegant, you can’t go wrong with boxwood garlands, eucalyptus, magnolia leaves, and Israeli Ruscus, to name a few.

Relaxed Receptions

It would be odd to have a rustic-themed wedding at a ritzy beachside hotel, right? Right! Well, in addition to matching your theme with your venue, we’re also noticing that more couples are opting for venues that cater to laid back, relaxed receptions. Rather than following a reception schedule to a tee, we’re seeing more couples truly embrace the gathering aspect of their celebration by scheduling their reception in a way that allows them to spend quality time with their guests and enjoy the sprawling landscape and great outdoors.

Environmentally-Friendly Weddings and Eco-Chic Celebrations

With more people getting environmentally conscious (can we get three cheers for that?!), we’re seeing more couples looking to transform everything from small details into more eco-friendly touches, like wedding invitations made from plantable paper to total farm-to-table receptions.

The best part about weddings that look to reduce their carbon footprint is you don’t have to sacrifice style for earth consciousness. There are so many eco-chic trends that are gorgeous and don’t create a ton of waste. For example, picking natively-grown flowers and herbs for your bouquets, crafting seating charts that double as favors and are good for the planet (like seed packets or small air-purifying plants), or using sustainably grown vegetables and pasture-raised meats in your reception meal (this is something we proudly offer at East Lynn Farm).

With a little creativity and help from experienced pros, you can create a low-carbon-footprint wedding day celebration you can feel good about. For example, all the bouquet flowers seen below are from the East Lynn Farm gardens!

Creative Food Stations

One of the best parts of a wedding celebration? Undoubtedly the food!

Whether you choose to go with creative food stations for your main meal, or you want to solely keep it creative with an alternative dessert to the traditional wedding cake, having food stations where your guests can choose exactly what they’d like and have their food cooked to order is a terrific way to bring either an elevated or homemade touch to your wedding day.

Vibrant Color Palettes

Blush and muted tones will always look good no matter the year or season, but this year bold colors are making an appearance in wedding palettes.

Many of the colors we predict to see in bridesmaid dresses, bouquets, and ceremony and reception decor come straight from Pantone’s 2017 Moody Blooms palette which includes deep fuchsia, a bright, burnt orange, Pantone’s color of the year, Greenery, and a vibrant mustard yellow.

Despite their boldness, these are actually colors we consider neutrals here at East Lynn Farm as they’re commonly tones you’ll see sprinkled throughout the blooms in our vast flower gardens. For example, take a look at the bouquets of the bridesmaids above…those are all flowers picked at East Lynn Farm!
